(KINTSUGI)
My wife is very skilled in turning anything into a piece of art with her hands. It’s amazing how broken materials can be transformed into something. beautiful.
Here, the Japanese art concept of Kintsugi comes to mind. It is the process of fixing broken vases in an attempt to highlight the cracks and turning them into a beautiful work of art. So in this concept, the cracks and joints become the center of attraction.
The process also can be applied in the metal industry where in an attempt to join or weld 2 pieces of metal makes that joint not only beautiful but more importantly, stronger and sturdy.
So how does the Japanese concept, Kintsugi relate to Christianity?
We live in a world that values perfectionism over. accepting our unique and flawed-self.
God wants us to embrace our cracks because He is the potter. He uses every cracks or broken thing to turn us into a something worth admiring. God values our uniqueness and sees potential for beauty in our imperfections.
